Eco Fashion
Eco fashion is subset of sustainable fashion, the values of eco fashion are very important for the industry and the future of our planet. All elements of the production process focus on being ecologically sound with the aim to be carbon neutral.
The eco fashion movement is conscious of the negative factors regarding clothing manufacture and the disastrous effects production causes. It avoids contributing to mass textile waste, pollution, deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions.
Materials used are recycled synthetic fibres or renewable natural fibres such as organic cotton, linen or hemp. The processing of materials is without toxic chemicals or harmful pesticides. Sustainability is a priority and this includes maintaining the quality of the soil where the natural fibres are grown, the consideration of biodiversity and waste water management, ensuring that this is all done in an energy efficient way.
Eco Fashion promotes and advocates for better working conditions and ethical practices by being certified fair trade and providing transparency throughout manufacture. This improves the social impact of fashion.
After processing and manufacture, it is also an important factor that the next stages are as environmentally friendly as possible, recyclable materials are used for packaging and shipping is carbon neutral. Providing natural or recycled materials, created in an eco friendly way should become standard practice.
